For any new apprenticeship programme we would recommend that you focus on the new standards, as frameworks will no longer be available in the near future.
The new apprenticeship standards are a key part of the Government’s Apprenticeship reforms. They are developed by groups of employers called Trailblazers. These employers come together on behalf of the relevant sector/s to design apprenticeships based on a real occupation.
They develop a 2 page standard which determines the key competencies (skills, knowledge and behaviours) that someone must have to be able to do that job. It looks a bit like a job description and is an accessible summary to understand if the apprenticeship fits with the roles within your business.
They also design how the apprentice will be assessed in the ‘end point assessment’. They provide a real opportunity to plan a bespoke apprenticeship programme.
